HEAL WHAT LIES BENEATH

Like a waterlily floating gracefully on the surface, our day-to-day behaviours and
emotions are often shaped by what lies beneath, our deep roots of past experiences,
unconscious beliefs, and unresolved memories.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) helps you access and heal
these deeper layers. It gently targets the roots, the original sources of pain, fear, or
limiting patterns, so that lasting change can emerge above the surface.

As we process trauma or difficult memories with EMDR, the emotional charge begins to
fade. You may find yourself feeling calmer, more in control, and more connected to
your true self, just as a waterlily becomes stronger when nourished from healthy,
healed roots.

HOW DOES EMDR WORK?

EMDR unfolds gently and at your pace. Together we begin with grounding and
stabilisation. Safety, regulation and consent guide every stage. Through gentle eye
movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the brain’s natural
ability to heal. As this happens the emotional intensity of difficult memories softens,
allowing them to be experienced with more distance and perspective. What was once
unsettled, lurking below the surface and easily triggered, becomes steadier, the waters
clear and a sense of calm returns.

WHY CHOOSE EMDR?

  • Faster results. Relief often comes in fewer sessions.

  • Less talking required. You don’t need to describe trauma in detail.

  • Direct memory processing. Works on the brain's memory systems, not just thoughts and feelings.

  • Addresses mind and body. Helps release physical tension from trauma.

  • Works without deep insight. You don’t need to understand everything to benefit.

  • Reduces overwhelm. Helps regulate emotional responses.

WHAT CAN EMDR TREAT?

EMDR is an evidence based treatment and is effective for:

• Trauma, PTSD & Complex PTSD
• Anxiety & panic
• Depression
• Phobias
• OCD
• Grief & loss
• Addictions
• Pain (including phantom pain)
• Low self-esteem & Shame
• Childhood experiences that continue to effect the present

SESSION LENGTH

EMDR sessions are usually 75 minutes, but this is flexible. The number of sessions depends on the individual and the severity of trauma.

WHO CAN OFFER EMDR?

Only trained and accredited professionals with a core mental health qualification and a formal training in EMDR accredited by EMDR UK/Europe should provide EMDR. Always check credentials.
